Multi Tenancy Cloud Computing of IMS Enterprise Software

Empowering your Business-2-Business Business™

IMS Voyager Enterprise installations can assist travel services suppliers to increase their market share by reaching out to global consumers via a Web based platform and attract customers through combination of value added services through collaboration with allied travel service providers.

Cloud is gaining popularity as means for saving cost of IT ownership and accelerating time to market due to ready-to-use, dynamically scalable computing infrastructure and software services offered on Cloud on pay-per-use basis. Design of software solutions for delivery as a shared service over Cloud requires specific considerations.

IMS Voyager architecture was designed originally over a decade ago to work as a travel reservations solution for use by corporate business traveler based on a Service Oriented Architecture, Software-as-a-Service, and Cloud Computing paradigm.

The Portal or Multi-tenancy capabilities of IMS Enterprise software, enables multiple independent tenants to be hosted on a single instance, which can be installed either on a single server or across a cluster of them. The main instance is logically partitioned such that it will appear to each tenant that they are accessing a completely separate instance of IMS Voyager Enterprise.

It is designed as a multi-tenant platform on a software-as-a-service basis resulting in significant cost reductions. A tenant is any application — either inside or outside the enterprise — that needs its own secure and exclusive virtual computing environment. This environment can encompass all or some select layers of enterprise architecture, from storage to user interface.

All interactive applications (or tenants) have to be multi-user in nature. Multi-tenancy is the key common attribute of both public and private clouds, and it applies to all three layers of a cloud:

Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).

The highest degree of multi-tenancy allows the database schema to be shared and supports customization of the business logic, workflow and user-interface layers. In other words, all the sub-layers of SaaS offer multi-tenancy in this degree.

IMS Voyager Enterprise provides a dynamically scalable, abstracted computing and storage infrastructure that is typically based on a virtualized, distributed, fault tolerant, parallel computing architecture. Via Cloud, users can leverage the power of highly distributed Internet allied with the high computing power made available by today’s grid engines.
